OUR CLASSES

Reception Class

Lovely Lions

Reception are known as the 'Lovely Lions' led by Mrs Soldano (Monday and Tuesday) and Mrs Calvert (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) as the class teacher, with Miss Brennan and Mrs Spanswick as the teaching assistants.


The Reception team provides information on the children's progress through the Tapestry App.

Year 1 Class

Talented Tigers

Year 1 are known as the 'Talented Tigers' led by Miss Quartermain as the class teacher, with Mrs Mountford and Mrs Ireland as the teaching assistants.

Year 2 Class

Excellent Elephants

Year 2 are known as the 'Excellent Elephants' led by Mrs Cater as the class teacher, with Mrs Wood and Miss Poole as the teaching assistants. 

Year 3 Class

Brilliant Butterflies

Year 3 are known as the 'Brilliant Butterflies' led by Miss Gillett as the class teacher, with  Mrs Hammon as the teaching assistant. 

Year 4 Class

Super Sealions

Year 4 are known as the 'Super Sealions' led by Mr Foster as the class teacher, with Mrs Mabbutt as the teaching assistant.

Year 5 Class

Perfect Pangolins

Year 5 are known as the 'Perfect Pangolins' led by Miss Andrews as the class teacher, with Mrs Mackle and Miss Long as the teaching assistants.

Year 6 Class

Prudent Platypus

Year 6 are known as the 'Prudent Platypus' led by Mrs Bushell as the class teacher, with Mrs Morgan as the teaching assistant. 

Nurture Room

The Nurture Room is our internal provision for children who need an alternative learning environment and curriculum with high levels of SEND, led by Mrs Tillman as the class teacher and Mrs Blunt, Miss Peck, Mrs Bazeley and Mrs Sutton as the teaching assistants.

Forest School

Children from Year 1 upwards have the opportunity to attend 5 sessions of Forest School with Mrs Hammond.

PHONICS

At Kingsthorpe Village Primary School, we teach the children early reading and spelling through phonics. We use the published scheme of 'Read, Write Inc' to support the children's learning of phonemes (sounds) and their corresponding graphemes (letters).
